THE METHOD

Simple measurements.
A useful estimate.

For rectangular beds with a level, uniform fill. Measure inside dimensions and subtract any existing fill from your chosen depth. Soil can settle; add an optional allowance if your project needs one.

How we calculate

Length × width × (depth ÷ 12) × beds
Measured soil volume, in cubic feet.

Measured volume × (extra % ÷ 100)
Extra material is shown separately.

(Measured + extra) ÷ bag size
Round upward to whole bags. For cubic yards, divide the total cubic feet by 27.
